The partnership involves Tyler’s Priority Based Budgeting software and Envisio’s strategy and performance management offering. The idea is to give government agencies a way to engage in priority-based budgeting while demonstrating with data the alignment of spending to larger goals as well as to outcomes.
Priority-based budgeting, in so many words, seeks to deliver more funding to the programs that most effectively deliver on strategic goals. In a statement, Tyler and Envisio said the partnership was inspired by the Rethinking Budgeting initiative, a collaborative effort between the Government Finance Officers Association, International City/County Management Association and National League of Cities. Tyler and Envisio have contributed to Rethinking Budgeting as it makes recommendations to government agencies.
The partnership is meant to enhance transparency for both government officials and the public as agencies use the technology to engage in priority-based budgeting.
